HELP SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT
September 02, 2008
Fasten your seatbelt first before starting car engine. An amount of fuel is wasted in fastening seatbelt while the engine is on.
Plant ten trees as these absorb the carbon emission of a car per year.
For short trips, it is best to walk (or bike) than drive. It will lessen street hullabaloos and in effect, air pollution, not to mention that you also save money.
Change your diesel fuel to biodiesel, cheaper and nature friendlier!
Eat natural or whole food (fresh fruits and vegetables). Definitely it is good for your health and for the environment. Whole food also requires less time and materials to prepare unlike canned goods and food with preservatives.
Check the faucet. A drop every moment can go big time within an hour. 12 million Metro Manila residents share the water supply from La Mesa Dam; might as well conserve it.
Use Eco-San toilet! This non-water toilet gives opportunity for your wastes to be turned into composites (used as fertilizers). Don’t worry, cleanliness is not at risk!
Use recyclable containers instead of plastic bags. Plastics contain substance harmful to environment as it spoils for the longest time.
Provide skylights to your home. Malls are already doing this, using outside light to fill their structure. It saves energy and provides a perfect cloud picturesque too!
Say no to pesticides! It also kills non-harmful organisms the brutal way! Eliminate pests the natural way.
Live a simple life. Purchase less stuff. The more your things are, the more it craves for resources such as electricity and space. If you can go on with your life without the need of buying it, then don’t.
